Kadge Gujjo (Raw/Young jackfruit Curry)

Kadge Gujjo is another popular konkani dish. Kadgi in konkani means raw jackfruit. Kadgi is a favourite vegetable for many people. Last month i had posted another favourite dish of konkanis- Kadge Chakko .Enjoy making this one more tasty dish. It has a garlic seasoning.

Ingredients:
  • Raw/Young jackfruit- 250g or a tin
  • Grated Coconut- 3/4 cup
  • Roasted red chillies- 4
  • Tamarind- A small ball (gooseberry sized)
  • Coriander seeds- 1 1/2 tsp
  • Oil- 2 tsp
  • Garlic pods- 4-5
  • Salt- To taste
Ingredients:

Drain the liquid from the tin and wash the jackfruit pieces (if using fresh, then remove the outer hard cover with greased hands). Cut it into small pieces.


Cook the chopped jackfruit in a cooker with little water and salt to taste, for two whistles.
For Masala- Grind grated coconut, red chillies, tamarind and coriander seeds to a fine paste. Add little water while grinding. Add this masala to the cooked young jackfruit. Bring it to a boil (Let the consistency be medium thick). Continue heating for five more minutes and turn off the heat.


For Seasoning- Heat oil. Add crushed garlic. Fry it until it turns golden brown. Add it to the jackfruit-masala mixture. Mix well. Kadge Gujjo is ready!!


Serve it hot with rice. Above measurement serves two people.
