Jeevkadgi Podi (Breadfruit Tawa Fry)

Jeevkadgi Podi is a low fat fritter. Few days back, I had posted Jeevkadgi Podi. That podi/fritter was deep fried one. This is one more method which is simple and healthy. Try this method as well.

Ingredients:
  • Breadfruit/Jeevkadgi- Half of a medium sized
  • Asafoetida- 1/4 tsp
  • Red chilli powder- To taste
  • Sooji/Semolina- 3-4 Tbsp (adjust accordingly)
  • Oil- 1-2 Tbsp (for shallow frying)
  • Salt- To taste

Procedure:

Cut and slice the breadfruit as explained in my earlier post Jeevkadgi Podi.

Now in a mixing bowl, take all the breadfruit pieces and then sprinkle red chilli powder, asafoetida and salt. Mix well so that all the pieces get an even coating. Keep it covered for half an hour.

Spread the semolina on a plate and then start rolling the breadfruit pieces in it, one by one. Each piece should get an even coating of semolina on either side. Place the coated breadfruit pieces on a heated pan. Once the pan gets filled, sprinkle little oil on top and close it with a lid. Let it get fried on a medium heat.

Fry the breadfruit pieces on either sides until it turns crispy and golden brown. Transfer it to a plate. Jeevkadgi Podi is ready!!

Serve it hot. Above measurement serves 3-4 people.
