Jeera Gobi (Cumin Flavored Cauliflower) ~ Microwave Method

Jeera Gobi is an easy, flavorful side dish. Jeera means cumin seeds and Gobi means cauliflower. This is my own recipe. I got inspired from a dish cooked by my friend and hence tried making in a microwave oven. This was instantly liked by my husband and have been making it ever since. It has become his favorite and eats it as it is, as soon as it is done.

The best thing about this dish is- only one bowl is required and just a few ingredients to spice up the florets. Put it in the microwave and forget. A flavorful dish is ready within 10 minutes without much effort. A healthy recipe indeed! Do give it a try and enjoy.

Ingredients:
  • Cauliflower- 1/2 of a medium sized one
  • Oil- 1-2 tsp
  • Turmeric powder- 1/4 tsp
  • Red Chilli powder- To taste
  • Cumin seeds/ Jeera- 3/4 tsp
  • Salt- To taste

Procedure:

Wash the cauliflower and cut it into florets.

Now put these florets in a microwave safe dish. Now sprinkle salt, red chilli powder, turmeric powder, cumin seeds and oil. Toss them well.

Now microwave on high for 5 minutes. Then remove it and give a good mix. Then again microwave on high for 6 more minutes with a stirring every 2 minute (The number of minutes to be microwaved is left to one's choice. Just eat a small floret to know whether its done). Jeera Gobi is ready!!

Serve it hot. Above measurement serves 1-2 people.

Note: You can also make this dish on stove top. It might require little water for cooking. Otherwise rest of the things remain the same.
