Video: Shevai (String Hoppers) | Coastal Karnataka Recipes

Shevai is a very popular breakfast in coastal region of Karnataka. Soaked rice is ground with coconut. The paste is then cooked and steamed. Finally it is pressed in a String hopper mould to get fresh rice noodles. It is a long process but its really worth at the end. The taste of the rice noodles depend on the rice which is used. Kerala Matta Rice (Boiled Rice) - 2 cups Sona masoori Rice - 2 cups Grated coconut - 1 cup Salt - 3 tsp Water - 4 cups
